Malaka did not assault me – Army Major
The attorney representing the Army Major, who was injured in a brawl at a five-star hotel recently, today filed an affidavit before the Fort Magistrate stating that he was not assaulted by Malaka Silva and Rehan Wijeratne and agreeing to settle the issue.
The son of Public Relations and Public Affairs Minister Mervyn Silva, Malaka and others surrendered to the Slave Island police yesterday (Sep. 17) over the alleged assault on the Army Major.
They were produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate and remanded until September 24.
It was previously reported that the Army Major was injured and hospitalized after allegedly being assaulted by Malaka Silva at a five-star hotel in Colombo on September 8.
Minister Mervyn Silva however has denied that his son assaulted an Army officer or any security personnel.

This is very hilaroius. If the major is denieing that he was not assaulted by Malaka under immense pressure it is very pathatic. Whatever it is, why did he make a complaint, in the first place, and now deny it. This has made the major himself and Sri Lanka judiciary a mockery. To make us believe all sort of cock and bull stories the rulers are thinking we all are fools.

This is outrageous, an army officer,a Major at that making a false and a demeaning accusation against a very noble son of a pious and highly learned and feared Minister from Sacred Kelaniya now allowed to go back on his own accusation.He enjoyed the best of State medical attention and even had the audacity to move our judiciary to punish innocent and noble sons of our hierachy.He should be punished as a deterrant to other would be bogus accsers.
Malaka is very innocent youth, not striking others. Instead people themselves hit them, get injuries and get admitted to hospitals to blackmail and mud Malaka.
These are international conspiracies in our country to darken characters of nice people.
