Petrol to be increased by Rs.12; diesel by 31

A litre of petrol will be increased by Rs.12, diesel by Rs.31 and kerosene by Rs.35 with effect from midnight today, the Ministry of Petroleum stated.

its so sadness news us,this all problem bacame because of AMERICA they put oil embargo to iran then we all third world countries suffering.

America has nothing to do with fuel going up in price. I am sorry to say this to you Mr Attanayake. If you can use politics for people’s benefit you can bring down the prices of most of the essential items. Politics in this country is for money making in billions for the cabinet of ministers
Mr.Damian i am disagree with you this fuel price because of i was last time traveled many many different countries,their everywhere so high this fuel prices.In sri lanka really we can say that its so cheap prices us.My uncle living sweden he said that there one litre patrol price 1,70 euro so please count how much it coast sri lanka price.(one € 150 rupee).In this case we can´t say that goverment fold.
The cost of oil in the world markets fluctuates as a result of supply and demand. Upcoming industrialised economies such as India and China are upping demand for crude. The price of a barrel of crude is hovering at USD 120; a barrel contains 42 US Gallons or 160 litres. The price of raw crude is approximately USD 0.80 which is SLRs 85. In addition there are transportation, refining and distribution costs. The price for fuel in SL is therefore reasonable. Affordability of course is a separate issue. we are not being penalised due the relationship betwenn the Kurakkan Satakaya clan and Ahmedinajed.
What we could do is to embrace emerging technologies for alternative sources of power. As we are an island, there’s potential in wave energy and also, wind energy and solar energy. We should impose a tax on fuel and invest the money in alternative energy sources so that in 10 years time when the alternative energy projects come to fruition, the cost of energy will be affordable. This is an ideal economic scenario and does not consider leakages such as commissions and kickbacks.
Mr Attanayake, Unfortunately sri lankans think that every thing that goes wrong in the country is the presidents or the governments fault. That is beacuse the educated people who have teavelled the world like you, and are agaianst the government knows that the government can not do anything about the petrol prices but they do act ignorrant when it suites them. Does not matter which counytry is to blame but the perrol price is going up. I have relatives living in Australia who were complaining just yesterday when I spoke to them on skype that petrol has gone up from $136 $150.Mind you these people pay around 20% tax plus 10% GST so it is getting harder for them too. If a coutry so rich with so many minerlas & petrol can not assist the people with cheaper petro how can we do so.

But we certaimly could have a brighter future if we can eliminate the corruption, mismanagement and nepotism and channel the resource leakage to productive endeavours.
It is totally outrageous that USA could ban Iran unilaterally from exporting its oil, when UN has not sanctioned so! This proves USA is dominating the whole world. How can the the other superpowers lie idle and not raise the issue in UNSC and UNGA, when this outrageous domination by USA is affecting the global economy of so many countries? Even EU, embroiled in economic disaster and bankruptcies, which is largely dependent on Iran oil, has bowed to US pressure to stop fuel imports from Iran. This will aggravate its economic depression even further. US does not care! Only US will must be obeyed by all nations! How utterly ludicrous!
China and India has defiantly responded to US unilateral ban by condemning it immediately and announcing that it will continue to buy oil from Iran. Both nations have immediately sent envoys to re-negotiate alternative payment structures, as USA has also banned world Banks from dealings with Iran.
In the face of this, how has SL acted to avert a fuel crisis? To his utter shame, SL President behaved like a lamb, a coward begging for mercy from imperial USA, to spare SL from the ban. Imperial USA is cocking a snook at SL. SL President to his utter shame has failed to defy USA like India and China, that SL will continue to do business as usual with Iran. He to his utter shame has not even bothered to send a special envoy as India and China did to arrange special payment structures for its oil. We could for instance, barter tea, food etc for oil. Instead, to his utter shame the President of SL turned to Oman and Saudi Arabia for oil, which cannot even be refined at Sapugaskande. Iran has announced meantime, those countries who bow to US dictat will no longer be able to buy oil from Iran in future. It will also hit our other trade with Iran as well.
Wake up Hon President! It is not too late yet! Take a leaf from China and India and send a special envoy to Iran to arrange special payment structures and to request Iran to continue to supply its oil to SL. USA cannot prevent it, as it amounts to an act of war on China, India and SL and any other country who does not bow to dictats of imperial US dog.
I do hope SL President has the guts to defy USA, even at this jucture. But it seems to me he has lost his bottle, now that he is safely ensconced in Temple Trees.
MY QUESTION TO SL PRESIDENT IS: ARE YOU SERVING THE INTEREST OF THE SL NATION OR THE INTEREST OF USA? ARE YOU ALLOWING USA BY ITS IMPERIALISM, TO BURDEN SL WITH HIGH FUEL COSTS, HIGH FOOD AND TRANSPORT COSTS? WOULD YOU SIT IDLY BY WHILE TO PEOPLE WHO VOTED YOU INTO POWER TO SERVE THE NATION, TO PRESERVE ALWAYS ITS BEST INTERESTS, SUFFER AS A RESULT? pERHAPS YOU MAY NOT FEEL THE PINCH, BECAUSE YOU ARE RICH ENOUGH TO WEATHER THE STORM. The Kurakkan Satakaya clan are not the best educated. It is wrong for the majority who voted them into power to expect intellectual leadership from them. The Clan has thought deficiencies. All they are good at is mortgaging the country to the hilt and buying Israeli Killer Jets to mow down Thambi’s rag tag army.
Well, the majority not only voted them into office but their popularity rating keeps growing as well.

I still don’t agree with you when you insult other relegions. Each and every living human beeing has a right to believe what ever they want because the fact of the matter is none of us really know what happens to us when we die. It is just simlpy speculation and stuff we have been told by our parents and these are things that came down to them from their parents. It’s True that common people can’t get know what’ll happen after death or before birth also. But if you can go to heaven only by praying & believing, then isn’t it a simple..? Who can’t just pray & believe anything for heaven..?
But what if it won’t works..? Then it’ll be a misbelief & you’ll be in hell according to the Actions theory. Because only 1 of these will work & that’ll be the truth. God belief or actions theory.
you must think & find if don’t know which’s right. And god believers don’t know the real good & bad things in actions theory. So they tend to do evil acts like killing animals etc & thinking of salvation from their evil acts by praying. But the other common folk condemn them as evil doers. So if god belief won’t work then they’ll be condemned here & will be in the hell after death. And they’ll have a regretful death too.
