WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange arrested in UK
LONDON – Police say WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has surrendered to British police as part of a Swedish sex-crimes investigation, the latest blow to the secret-spilling website that faces legal, financial and security challenges.
Assange was arrested at 9:30 a.m. (930 GMT) Tuesday and was due to appear at Westminster Magistrate’s Court later in the day.
Assange has been hiding out at an undisclosed location in Britain since WikiLeaks began publishing hundreds of U.S. diplomatic cables on the Internet last week.
The organization’s room for maneuver is narrowing by the day. It has been battered by web attacks, cut off by Internet service providers and is the subject of a criminal investigation in the United States, where officials say the release jeopardized national security and diplomatic efforts around the world.

When Tissanayagam was jailed following proper legal process he was awarded a journalism award by some ideotic organisation.
This time Julian is arrested by UK displaying western dictatorship to silence independant journalism. They call themselves democtratic, but a journalist cannot publish “truth”? They only bless those journalists who tow their line like BBC lie factory, Channel 4 etc.
If there is nothing to hide by UK and USA and were always honest and truthful as they always pretended to be then there is nothing to worry about. But why do they worry? That means they must have a lot to hide from the rest of the world to maintain their prentention of honesty.
This time it is Sri Lanka’s turn to award Julian the highest possible journalism award for his great work in exposing naked hypocratic west UK, USA etc.
Julian Assange is an intellectual and an honest man who has exposed at last to the whole world the sheer hypocrisy of the imperail West. The imperial West is white with fury and red with embarrassment. AQll the evidence of their blatant hypocrisy is laid bare. There is more to come, to be exposed. The whole free world owes a trmendous debt of gratutude to JA. In their desperation, the imperial West led by yankee USA has got him arrested on a dubious, concocted charge of rape etc. Why not accuse him of murder also? The real ‘crime’ is he exposed the lies and hypocrisy of imperial West governments in continuing with torture, crimes against humanity and war crimes in the recent history.
I call on Hon President to set-up our own Freeworld MR Journalism Award for courageous act of journalism in exposing the truth about imperial West hypocrisy, and call for JA immediate release. He should be invited to SL as an honoured guest of the state and conferred on him this award.
