Delivering a lengthy statement in Parliament with regard to the allegations leveled against him, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ravi Karunanayake announced that he is resigning from his ministerial portfolio.
The Cabinet granted the approval to increase the minimum fine for traffic offences to Rs. 25,000 today.
Following a meeting with President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday at the Presidential Secretariat, Foreign Minister Karunanayake is likely to quit his portfolio shortly, according to sources.
President Maithripala Sirisena says the policy of the present government is to bring foreign investment in a way which will not harm the country’s sovereignty.
