Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrives in Sri Lanka for three-day official visit

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Sri Lanka at 1:25 PM today (September 8) aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft for a three-day official visit.
During the visit, three Memorandums of Understanding related to defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and India are expected to be signed.
The Indian Defence Minister is scheduled to remain in Sri Lanka until September 10, 2026. During his stay, he is expected to hold discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, and Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha.
Meanwhile, the Colombo Traffic Division has announced that a special traffic plan will be in place from today until September 10 due to the Indian Defence Minister’s official visit.
Accordingly, traffic will be temporarily and intermittently restricted along the routes used by the Minister during the relevant periods.
The special traffic plan will cover the Katunayake Expressway and areas in and around Colombo and Battaramulla.
