Ranil to meet Ban Ki-Moon tomorrow

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe is scheduled to meet UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon tomorrow (July 02) in New York, Opposition Leader’s Office told Ada Derana. Wickramasinghe will meet the UN chief during the former’s ongoing visit to the US.

Amden I have yet not seen any blogger condemn Buddism or any other reregion for that matter. You stand alone in that dept unfortunately. If you are a reasonable man who stands for the truth at all times then you must know that all human beeings have the freedom to believe in what ever they like as long as they do not harm any one. You can not brand all westerners as bed people. There were a lot of westerners who helped us during the Tsunami. I agree that there are some western Churches especially from America who have other agendas when they help other coutries. But don’t be fooled by the kindness shown by Sri Lanka’s new friends. They also have an agenda.But having said that i wouln’t say all Russians or chinese are bad.

The Hon Leader of the Opposition claims a closeness to US politicians. While being Prime Minister, Hon RW met with President George W Bush twice in a period of 3 months. In his second meeting with President Bush, Hon RW had to hand around in a Washington Hotel for almost 6 days prior to being granted a 20 minute interview.
I think it was dusing his second meeting that President CBK sacked a number of Cabinet Ministers holding key portfolios which action eventually lead to the dissolution of the UNP Govt.
In his current visit to the US, the Secretary of State and the Assistant Secretary Mr Blake have snubbed Hon RW by refusing to receive him for meetings.
The nationalist are likely to scream “who cares” from the roof tops. Bt the treatment afforded to Hon RW is a reflection of our status in the World.
Hon RW was cagey in his views on the Darusman Report. He appointed a committee to advice him; he surreptitiously sent his man, Hon Wijedasa Rajapaksa to advice the Blue Brothers and also to write to the UNSG opposing the report.
He made a dodgy statement in Parliament on the need for time to sort out issues locally. Dodgy again; Hon RW was hoping as usual to push things under the carpet so that the issues eventually disappear.
Hon RW is the longest serving leader of the opposition; unfortunately he is utterly incapable of developing any worthwhile policies on key issues. Hence his ineffectiveness in his role.
Hon RW is the last credible leader who commanded some respect and stature in the World. It is clear that this position has now been lost.
I fear to say this but it has to be said for the benefit of our nation. We are now a pariah state.
Why PISSU PUUSA was waiting in vain 6dys for 20min meeting with BUSH…?
