Missing Badulla Hospital Doctor found dead in Mahiyanganaya

The body of an anaesthesiology specialist from Badulla Teaching Hospital who was reported missing has been found in a wooded area near Mapakadawewa in Mahiyanganaya.
The doctor had been on duty at Badulla Teaching Hospital yesterday morning (August 23) but was reported missing afterwards.
During investigations, CCTV footage obtained from the Meegahakiula area showed the doctor’s car travelling towards Mahiyanganaya.
Police said further investigations led to the discovery of the car last night near the 17th milepost in the Mapakadawewa area along the Badulla–Mahiyanganaya canal road.
After confirming that the vehicle, which had been parked at the location since last night, belonged to the missing doctor, police and local residents began searching the surrounding area.
A joint search operation was carried out today (August 24) by police officers, crime scene officers and the Sri Lanka Army.
During the search, the doctor’s body was found on a rock in a wooded area close to where the vehicle had been parked.
Police said a type of medicinal tablet was also found near the body.
Mahiyanganaya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
