Sri Lanka Police has asked the public not to submit requests for police clearance reports after its clearance certificate data system went out of service at 12:50 PM on August 20, 2026.
Police clearance certificates are processed by the Clearance Division located on the 17th floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla.
Applications for clearance certificates, requests for reports and the printing of certificates are handled through the data system, which has remained unavailable since the outage began.
The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) has been informed of the issue, and steps are being taken to restore the system.
Sri Lanka Police said requests for clearance reports should not be submitted until the system is restored.
Once the data system becomes operational again, applicants will be able to resubmit their requests for police clearance reports.
