Sri Lankan, Indian Army Engineers build Bailey Bridge in Batticaloa

Construction of Bailey Bridge at Palukamam in Batticaloa by Sri Lankan and Indian Army engineers

Sri Lankan Army Engineers have assisted an Indian Army Engineering Task Force in constructing a Bailey Bridge at Palukamam in Batticaloa.

A team of Sappers from the 7 Field Engineer Regiment of the Sri Lanka Engineers was deployed at the site from August 29 to September 2, 2026.

The Sri Lankan Army team supported Indian Army Engineers in launching the Bailey Bridge as part of the construction work.

Following the bridge installation, the Road Development Authority (RDA) will carry out security checks and construct access ramps at the site.

The Indian Army will provide technical advice and assistance to the RDA during the remaining work.
