Three killed, including seven-year-old girl, in Delgoda road accident

Three people, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed and three others were injured in a collision between a three-wheeler and a car in Delgoda on New Kandy Road on August 19, 2026.

Sri Lanka Police said the accident occurred in the afternoon within the Meegahawatta Police Division when the three-wheeler, travelling from Biyagama towards Delgoda, attempted to turn to the right side of the road and collided with a car coming from the opposite direction.

The driver of the three-wheeler, two women and two children travelling in it sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Udupila Hospital.

The three-wheeler driver, one woman and a girl later died from their injuries.

The deceased driver was a 69-year-old resident of Delgoda. The 39-year-old woman and the seven-year-old girl were a mother and daughter from the Siyambalape area.

A young girl travelling in the car was also injured in the accident and admitted to Ragama Hospital.

Meegahawatta Police are conducting further investigations into the accident.
