Defence Ministry holds Aegis Lexicon 2026 cyber security exposition

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence held the annual “Aegis Lexicon 2026” Defence Cyber Exposition on August 19, 2026 focusing on emerging cyber security developments, technologies and challenges affecting national defence.
The exposition, organised by the Defence Cyber Command (DCC), was held at the Ministry of Defence with Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) attending as the Chief Guest.
Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) was also present.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Minister Jayasekara stressed the growing importance of cyber security in the changing security environment.
He said Aegis Lexicon has developed into the flagship cyber security initiative of the Defence Cyber Command and provides a platform to improve cyber security awareness, technical skills and resilience while strengthening cooperation among defence stakeholders.
Director Defence Cyber Command Brigadier Dhammika Vidanalage delivered the introductory remarks.
This year’s exposition was held under the theme “Shaping the Future Battlespace Towards the Singularity.”
The programme focused on emerging developments, technological advances and current challenges in cyber security, particularly their impact on national defence.
It included expert presentations and panel discussions covering key areas of cyber security, emerging technologies and national security.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the Aegis Lexicon series provides a platform for knowledge sharing, professional discussion and greater awareness of evolving cyber security threats, while helping to strengthen cyber preparedness and resilience within the national defence sector.
The Commander of the Navy, Commander of the Air Force, senior Ministry of Defence officials, senior officers of the Tri-Services and other stakeholders attended the event.
