Lanka Phosphate gets Rs. 110 Million in new machinery and vehicles

New machinery and operational vehicles worth Rs. 110 million have been added to Lanka Phosphate Company in Eppawala to strengthen its operations.

The new equipment was officially added to the company on Thursday (August 27), while appointment letters were also handed over to newly recruited drivers.

Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti attended the event.

The investment includes two wheel loaders worth Rs. 79 million, two tipper trucks worth Rs. 18 million and two forklifts worth Rs. 13 million.

Minister Handunnetti said several other development measures have also been carried out at Lanka Phosphate Company during the past 20 months.

These include the construction of a new finished-goods warehouse at a cost of Rs. 76 million and the repair and restoration of a crusher machine that had previously been out of operation.

The institution has also been digitalised with 20 laptop computers, while its corporate email services, official website and sales hotline have been reactivated.

Measures have also been introduced to protect consumers, including printing the maximum retail price on products.

The company has introduced APM coconut fertiliser to the market and has taken steps to provide ERP samples at concessionary prices.

It has also launched its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan while strengthening its dealer and distribution networks.

Minister Handunnetti said further steps would be taken to accelerate the development of local industries while protecting state resources and ensuring operations free from corruption and waste.
