Nearly 10% of tested bus crews in Sri Lanka found using drugs

Nearly 10% of bus drivers and conductors tested in several provinces of Sri Lanka have been found to have used drugs, according to the National Transport Medical Institute.

Chairman of the National Transport Medical Institute, Professor Clifford Perera, said the findings were confirmed through drug tests conducted so far in the Western, Southern, North Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.

He said the testing programme is continuing to identify drivers who operate vehicles while under the influence of drugs.
