Ravi Karunanayake
Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today (August 31) to provide a statement over an alleged misuse of National Lotteries Board employees for political activities.
The investigation concerns three employees who had been recruited for a special project of the National Lotteries Board and were allegedly used for political activities, causing a loss to the government.
Karunanayake had previously been asked to appear before CIABOC to provide a statement in connection with the investigation. However, he did not appear on that occasion, prompting a team of CIABOC officials to visit his residence recently.
The MP was not at home when the officials visited.
Through his lawyers, Karunanayake later requested another date to provide the statement, citing arrangements related to his daughter’s wedding.
Accordingly, Ravi Karunanayake appeared before CIABOC today in line with the notice issued to him.
