Sri Lanka expressways earn over Rs. 408 Million in one week

Sri Lanka’s expressway network earned more than Rs. 408.5 million from nearly 1.1 million vehicle journeys between August 24 and August 30, 2026, according to the Road Development Authority (RDA).

The RDA’s weekly expressway traffic and revenue summary shows that 1,095,895 vehicles exited through the expressway network during the seven-day period. The total revenue collected was Rs. 408,592,890.

The figures cover the country’s expressway network, including the Southern Expressway, Colombo Outer Circular Expressway, Colombo-Katunayake Expressway and Central Expressway.

The highest traffic volume of the week was recorded on Tuesday, August 25, when 169,215 vehicles used the expressways. Revenue for the day stood at Rs. 60,507,330.

However, the highest daily revenue was recorded on Wednesday, August 26. A total of 165,847 vehicles travelled on the expressways that day, generating Rs. 63,322,215.

On Friday, August 28, the expressways recorded 164,047 vehicles and earned Rs. 61,722,600. This was followed by Saturday, when 160,095 vehicles generated Rs. 61,393,320.

On Monday, August 24, a total of 154,509 vehicles were recorded, bringing in Rs. 54,091,645 in revenue.

Traffic dropped to its lowest level of the week on Thursday, August 27, when 140,254 vehicles were recorded. Despite the lower traffic, the expressways generated Rs. 53,361,965 that day.

On Sunday, August 30, the network recorded 141,928 vehicles, while revenue reached Rs. 54,193,815.

According to the weekly summary, the expressways handled an average of approximately 156,556 vehicles per day during the period. Average daily revenue stood at Rs. 58,370,412.86, or around Rs. 58.37 million.

Overall, the figures show strong use of Sri Lanka’s expressway network during the final week of August, with more than Rs. 408 million collected in toll revenue over the seven days.
