Halal logo removed from local products; ACJU to issue free Halal certification for exports

All Lankan producers will no longer carry the Halal logo on their products unless requested by their foreign consumer, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said a short while ago. Meanwhile it was stated that for export purposes companies could obtain the Halal certification free of charge from the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU).

All this hullabaloo is about animal slaughter in a predominantly Buddhist country.
The Buddhist philosophy is pretty strong on cruelty to humans and animals. The Buddhist practioners turn a blind eye towards this philosophy.
Of course, the slaughter of Tamil speaking citizens and animals fall in the same category. It is time both were banned.
What’s the fuss about the stickers attached to animals that have been slaughtered in the most inhumane and cruel amnner?
