Three petitions filed in Supreme Court against Sri Lanka’s 22nd Amendment

Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne informed Parliament today (August 19) that copies of three petitions filed before the Supreme Court challenging the Twenty-Second Amendment to the Constitution Bill have been received.
The Speaker made the announcement during today’s parliamentary proceedings.
Parliament was also informed that the Speaker had received copies of petitions filed before the Supreme Court in relation to the Judicature (Amendment) Bill.
The petitions concern the proposed legislation currently before the Parliament of Sri Lanka and will be considered as part of the constitutional process applicable when Bills are challenged before the Supreme Court.
