Water cannons fired to disperse Isurupaya strike

Police fired water cannons to disperse a protest staged by Lanka Teachers Union in front of the Education Ministry in Battaramulla this morning.
Police said heavy traffic congestion was experienced in Pelawatte, Battaramulla as a result of the protest.
The union were protesting against the curtailment of salary arrears and denying teachers pensions.
