Cabinet approves presentation of 2027 Appropriation Bill to Sri Lanka Parliament

Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved the publication of the 2027 Appropriation Bill in the Government Gazette before it is presented to Parliament for approval.
The Cabinet had previously approved the preparation of the Appropriation Bill for the 2027 financial year at its meeting held on June 30, 2026.
Following that decision, the Bill was prepared by the Legal Draftsman’s Department and has now received clearance from the Attorney General.
The proposal to publish the Bill in the Government Gazette and subsequently present it to Parliament was submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
The Cabinet approved the proposal, clearing the way for the 2027 Appropriation Bill to be formally presented to Parliament.
