Four inmates escape from Mahara Prison

Four inmates have escaped from the Mahara Prison, officials said today.
The Department of Prisons said that four prisoners serving time in connection with robberies had escaped from the prison last evening.
The escaped prisoners are said to be residents of Marawila, Dankotuwa, Ja Ela and Polonnaruwa.
A special team led by a Senior Superintendent of Prisons has launched investigation into the escape while police are also conducting an investigation.
