Sri lanka has the most holidays and the most cabinet ministers in the world.
It is sad most of the population does not understand the connection between many unwanted holidays, very well looked after huge ministries and ministers, the crime rate which has a negative impact on their GDP. Sri Lankans in sri lanka are considered a laid back society. It is in fact a lazy society not laidback.
The holiday is the last thing we need to jump start the economy. I suppose this is not according to big bros economics.
Crime rate goes up with the emphasis only on the economy. In western countries the crime rate is many more times higher than in Asian countries.
When you try to measure evertything by the economy and dollars, real human values will be forgotton and a dog-eat-the-dog type society will emerge. That is what has happened to western societies. They only see money not any other human values. They can lie through their skin for money. They will even sell their parents for money.
To me, money needs only the sufficient amount of attention (in moderation) and human values needs to be upheld more than that. These types of holidays can be used for the good of the people if we encourage them to be used meaningfully. Using such holidays for carnivals and parties will be counter-productive.
Focusing only on economy will end up the society in a western style “rat race” and live without a “life”.
Being in the biggest cabinet of world they also teach poor people to survive by Rs 2500/…! & show CRICKET while letting some Jackals to have Lion dress..!
