NSB gets new chairperson
Veteran banker W. A. Nalani assumes duties today as the new Chairperson of the National Savings Bank (NSB).
She is a graduate of the University of Colombo, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics (Hons) and Bachelor of Philosophy in Economics.
She has a distinguished career in banking spanning over 37 years. Nalani completed her primary and secondary education at Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda and Vishaka Vidyalaya, Bambalapitiya.
She also has served as the President of the Association of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka and the GM/ CEO of the Bank of Ceylon. She is also a Committee Member of the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo. Nalani was awarded with the ‘Zonta Award for excellence in the Banking Category in 2009.

Ms. W. A. Nalani, AIB, FIB (Sri Lanka), BA (Econ.), BPhil (Econ.) had been the General Manager of Bank of Ceylon since August 2011. Ms. Nalani served as Senior Deputy General Manager of Bank of Ceylon since December 2008. Ms. Nalani has over 32 years extensive experience in all aspects of commercial banking, covering domestic banking, trade finance, credit and recovery management. Ms. Nalani served as Deputy General Manager of Corporate & Offshore Banking for five years. Ms. Nalani headed the Recovery Unit, served as Assistant General Manager of the Metropolitan Branch, the largest middle-market business unit at Bank of Ceylon. She served in the Sabaragamuwa Province branch network covering the important economic districts of Kegalle and Ratnapura. She is a specialist in credit and recovery management and has contributed significantly to staff training. Ms. Nalani serves as Director of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka and SriLankan Airlines Ltd. She serves as Director of BOC Travels (Pvt) Ltd (BOCTL). Ms. Nalani served as Director of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC since April 28, 2006. She also served as Director of BOC Management & Support Services Pvt., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Bank of Ceylon until July 7, 2008. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka. She also holds a Degree in Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and a Degree in Bachelor of Philosophy in Economics.
