Provincial Council polls peaceful with no major incidents – Elections Commissioner

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya says that the Western and Southern Provincial Council polls held today was peaceful with no major incidents.
He stated that the first result is expected to be released at around 11.00pm today while postal votes results are expected at around 8.00pm.
Only one incident of election violence was report today when supporters of two rival political parties clashed in the Kankanamgoda Road area in Beruwala.
However, police said the situation was brought under control following the intervention of police and STF personnel. (Ada Derana)
