Rs. 8.8 Million seed paddy production machine opens in Divulapelessa

A modern seed paddy production machine valued at Rs. 8.8 million was opened on August 9 at the Dedunu Agricultural Cooperative Society in Divulapelessa under the patronage of Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyarathna.
The Minister said projects of this nature are important to move the local agriculture sector forward with modern technology and market opportunities while adding greater value to farmers’ produce and strengthening their income.
He said providing modern technological facilities to farmers would help increase the production of high-quality seed paddy, improve productivity and income, and strengthen farmers’ economic conditions by connecting their products with market opportunities.
The Minister said achieving these goals is a key objective of the government.
He also appreciated the contribution made by the Dedunu Cooperative Society towards improving the economic and social conditions of farmers in the area.
The society has developed over the past 20 years with the participation of farmers and the strength of the cooperative movement.
Minister Samantha Vidyarathna, Uva Province Governor Kapila Jayasekara, Badulla District Member of Parliament Sudath Balagalla, the Chairman of the Mahiyanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha, cooperative officials and a large number of members of the Dedunu Cooperative Society attended the event.
