Sagara Kariyawasam
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary and Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam has been arrested this morning (August 10).
He was arrested over alleged death threats against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and remarks concerning the government and the President.
Kariyawasam was taken into custody after arriving at the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) to provide a statement regarding remarks he had made concerning the IGP.
The allegations against him include making death threats against the IGP and making statements that could bring the government and the President into disrepute among the public.
