STF officer shoots himself in Peliyagoda fish market

An officer of the Police Special Task Force (STF) has committed suicide by shooting himself inside the Peliyagoda fish market complex this morning.

Police Spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena stated that the STF officer shot himself using his service weapon.

The officer, attached to the Gonahena Police STF Camp, had been assigned as security for the fish market complex in Peliyagoda.

The Magistrate’s inquiry is yet to be conducted while Peliyagoda Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
