Police have begun investigations on a suspect accused of abducting a woman in a white van and raping her at a rest house in the Chilaw area.
The victim was a 31 year old mother of two from Bogahawetiya in Arachchikattuwa.
The victim, whose husband is employed abroad, had traveled to the Chilaw town on September 28 for a personal errand while a suspicious man had been following her and had forced her into a white van after which she had been taken to a rest house in the Bandarawatta area and raped.
