Keheliya’s daughter arrested over money laundering charges

Chamithri Rambukwella, the elder daughter of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on charges of money laundering this evening (February 06).
According to investigations, she was arrested around 1:15 PM today (February 06) in the Aluthkade area of Colombo after it was revealed that an offence had been committed under Section 3 (1) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act No. 05 of 2006, for aiding and abetting the laundering of unlawfully earned money by former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
She is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
UPDATE – 05:22 PM:
Chamithri Rambukwella, the eldest daughter of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, was granted bail after being produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
She was released on two personal bail bonds of Rs. 5 million each.
The order was delivered by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama after considering submissions from both the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) and the defense counsel.
Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered the suspect’s release on bail. The case is scheduled to be heard again on February 10, 2026.
