German national drowns in Hikkaduwa

A German tourist drowned last evening (January 21) while swimming in the ocean off the Hikkaduwa beach. The Hikkaduwa police stated that the victim died after being admitted to the Karapitiya hospital.
The victim was 72 years old and was staying at a hotel in the Wewala area in Hikkaduwa.
Police stated that further investigations will be conducted into the incident.
