Lanka’s progress praiseworthy – Russian President

Sri Lanka has achieved significant results in securing sustainable economic and social development, consolidation of democratic state institutions, Russian President Dmitry A Medvedev in a message to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Sri Lanka’s 64th Independence Day said.
The message: ” Please, accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. In recent years, Sri Lanka has achieved significant results in securing sustainable economic and social development, consolidation of democratic state institutions.
“Our countries are tied up by strong bonds of friendship and cooperation, long-standing traditions of mutual respect and trust. I am confident that further progressive extension of Russia – Sri Lanka relations serves the interests of our citizens as well as facilitates consolidation of regional stability and security. I wish you, Mr President, good health and success as well as peace and well-being to the people of Sri Lanka.”
