Oust Sri Lanka from the Commonwealth – Vaiko
Sri Lanka should be removed from the Commonwealth and the CHOGM shifted to another country, says Vaiko, president of India’s Marumalarchi Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (MDMK).
The Congress has betrayed the interests of people of Tamil Nadu and Tamils in Sri Lanka, he said, in Vellore to participate in the preparatory meeting for the party’s 105th birth anniversary conference of Aringnar Anna, at Virudhunagar on September 15.
“Sri Lanka should be removed from the Commonwealth and the meet should not be held at Sri Lanka,” he said, adding, “I do not want India to boycott the meet; by doing so, the Congress would take advantage politically.”
“People had lost faith in the Congress-led UPA due to the bad economic policies leading to an economic disaster,” he was quoted as saying by Express News Service.

Why. It is the responsibility of the State to Protect its Citizens.
That is where the the core problem lies. The state is not doing its job, and treating the citizens as its enemy, especially if they are non-Sinhala Buddhis

Fully agree with you that CHOGM should be moved away from our country. Even the head of the Commonwealth is not attending the meeting. It will be presided over by the Head’s scandalous son and his consort, the Head’s daughter in law. They will be swimming in the Indian Ocean at Hambantota. What a disgrace.
Commonwealth can be compared to the andi 7th denge kenda pot. It is similar to the UN which would not survive if not for US philantropy. Commonwealth is bankrupt and these will not, cannot achieve anything. If it can alienate world opinion then it will take place in places that matter giving full exposure to the proceedings.
Fortunately security is no problem for there are no real threats …The hotels are substandard and the food average so there is no incentive for the delegates to saty any longer than is necessary.
I only hope that SL government can recover what has been spent. Maybe we ought to send a hat around at the photo op to collect some money.
