Postal Strike called off

Sri Lanka’s Postal trade union coalition has called off their strike after discussions held this morning with the Minister of Postal Services Jeewan Kumaratunga.
The trade union action was launched by 17 postal trade unions, with 22,000 Membership on November 13 based on several demands including immediate removal of the Postmaster general.
It was reported yesterday that around 1,600,000 letters and registered mail had piled up at the Colombo Central Postal Exchange as a result of the trade union action.(niz)
