Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa confirms that he would step down today (July 13)

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has informed Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena that he would step down as mentioned earlier, and would ensure that the letter of resignation is officially sent to the Speaker today (July 13).
The Speaker said the vote for the new President will take place on the 20th of July, and urged the people to remain calm.
