Sri Lanka, Russia to hold crucial bilateral talks in Colombo

The 11th bilateral political consultation session between Sri Lanka and Russia begins today (April 2) in Colombo, focusing on key future challenges across multiple sectors.
The session will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombo, bringing together senior officials from both countries to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions will center on addressing future challenges in Sri Lanka’s economic, political, cultural, trade, and tourism sectors.
Both sides are expected to explore practical ways to enhance collaboration and mutual benefits in these areas.
The meeting will be attended by high-level representatives, including Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry Secretary Aruni Ranaraja and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.
Rudenko, who is responsible for overseeing the Asia-Pacific region, arrived in Sri Lanka on March 31, 2026, ahead of the consultations.
The session marks the 11th round of ongoing political consultations between the two countries, reflecting continued diplomatic engagement and efforts to strengthen long-term relations.
