Sri Lanka received USD 748.6 million in workers’ remittances in August 2026, an increase from USD 680.8 million recorded in the same month last year, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The Central Bank said the latest figure reflects continued growth in money sent home by Sri Lankans employed overseas.

Meanwhile, total workers’ remittances received from January to August 2026 reached USD 6,131 million.

This was also higher than the USD 5,116 million received during the first eight months of 2025.
