UNP leads in Colombo area

Although the governing UPFA was able to win a few electorates in Colombo District, the main opposition UNP secured key electorates in the Colombo area, while the DPF, DP and the JVP also increased their vote base in the Western province.
The UPFA recorded the majority votes in the Dehiwala, Ratmalana, Kolonnawa, Kotte, Homagama, Kaduwela and Moratuwa polling divisions according to official results released so far, while the UNP won the Borella, Colombo West, Colombo East, Colombo Central and Colombo North polling divisions.
The DPF was able to clinch the second highest votes in the Colombo West and Colombo North polling divisions. (Daily Mirror)
