Navy arrests 38 Indian fishermen

Thirty-eight Indian fishermen have been arrested today by Sri Lankan navy for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary line and venturing into Sri Lankan waters.
The fishermen and their 6 boats were intercepted in seas South of Delft Island, navy spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.
The fishermen along with their boats have been taken by the Lankan Navy to the Kankesanthurai Port and will later be handed over to the fisheries inspector in charge of the area, he said.
The arrests come just three days after fishermen representatives of India and Sri Lanka met to discuss the vexed fishing issue.

Same old story. GOSL must act hard and fast against these fishermen with no amnesty. Their boats and tackle and the catch must be seized and sold to defray for the cost incurred to by navy, police and courts etc. They should get a stiff sentence with no amnesty. Let big mama howl as much as she likes to the Centre. lessons have to be taught. GOSL must not be made a laughing stock any more.
