Rs. 25,000 traffic fine coming soon – IGP

IGP Pujith Jayasundera yesterday said he intended to implement the minimum fine of Rs. 25,000 for several traffic offences shortly as proposed in the 2017 budget.
Addressing his officers at the Police Headquarters at a ceremony to ring in the New Year, IGP Jayasundera said it was essential to impose enhanced fines as there were habitual violators of road rules and there was no reason why the law-abiding motorists should take exception to them.

Pujitha,
But you may receive a call from “Sir” which requests you to abandon the LKR25k fine for speedy Bus Drivers.
Good. Also disqualify repeated offenders from driving for life through court action and/or make them sit for a longer harder driving test, where applicable. It is almost always an innocent bystander who has to pay by life for the action of these idiots who do not know how to drive on the road.
Most important thing this country missing
Driving while on phone 40000 rupees
Jumping colour (traffic ) light 25000
Stopping in junction box 25000
Driving on one way the opposite direction 25000
They should itemised like this rather traffic violation
