50 deported Lankans arrive from UK tomorrow

A group of 50 Lankans who are being deported from the UK will arrive on a flight to Sri Lanka tomorrow (September 29), Chaminda Kularatne, Minister Counsellor (Consular and Immigration) of the Sri Lankan High Commission in London stated.

He said that there were Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim person in the group that was being deported while adding that they had been in the UK illegally as some of them had been denied visas or political asylum.

Mr. Kularatne added that since the war in the country had ended and the situation was peaceful, political asylum was not granted to some in the group.
