Ajith Rajapaksa elected as Deputy Speaker of Parliament

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Ajith Rajapaksa was elected as the new Deputy Speaker of Parliament today (May 17) by a majority of 31 votes in a secret ballot.
The result of the ballot is as follows:
- MP Rohini Kaviratne: 78
- MP Ajith Rajapaksa: 109
- A total of 23 votes were invalid.
