Explosions in Kochchikade and Katuwapitiya

Explosions were reported at St. Anthony’s Church in Kochchikade Kotahena, St.Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya, Negombo and Zion Church in Batticaloa, police said.
Reportedly, hundreds of injured persons have been hospitalized following the explosions.
DEATH TOLL –
Katuwapitiya : 50 dead
Batticaloa – 25 dead / 75 injured
National Hospital – 24 dead
Police immediately rushed to all affected areas and sealed off the churches and hotels.
Meanwhile, leave of all police personnel has been cancelled with immediate effect on the orders of the Inspector General of Police.
