Finding a suitable candidate UNP picks 4-man team
The United National Party (UNP) has appointed a four-member committee to analyse social surveys and opinion polls on who is most suited to be the Party’s Presidential Candidate and who can ensure victory for the Party.
This committee is supposed to analyse reports which were presented during recent discussions between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the UNP Deputy Leader and Minister Sajith Premadasa on choosing a Presidential candidate for the upcoming Election.
Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and Adviser to the Premier Dinesh Weerakkody will represent the Premier’s side while Ministers Kabir Hashim and Malik Samarawickrama represent Premadasa’s side on the committee.
They will present their findings at the next meeting between Wickremesinghe and Premadasa.

is it necessary for. Finding a UNP candidate for the Presidential election is it necessarily for for now Sajith claims the Bond scam is affecting the UNP but not Ranil who is responsible . Whether there was a bond scam or not is a big mathematical question and it cannot be solved by PCOL or COPE or Auditor General if you ask the 7 Mathematical Professors of Sri Lanka they will confirm it it is a waste of public funds by going to these organizations
when the UNF is formed it will have the biggest coalition in Sri Lanka as such any breakaway Sagith group will not affect a 113 majority provided that Ranil and Karu immediately sent out sagith group from parliament once the election commissioner call for nomination for a President that is the time there will be no President in Sri Lanka a President vacuum has been created as such billions of we the peoples funds would be saved for a election for a ineffective President and a further Rs. Billions per year we the peoples funds to maintain a ineffective President. For with amendment A which was gazetted in 9th of July 2018 all powers of the President could be Brought to Parliament. This I am stating as I will be joining the UNF as a FIET member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) | LinkedIn

The IET is one of the world’s largest engineering institutions with 169,000 members in over 150 countries. The IET is working to engineer a better world .
This Committee should bear in mind the role of the next President under the 19th Amendment.
There is one candidate who claims to be capable of working 20 hrs per day; such hard work is not required by the President under 19A.
There is another candidate who claims to be a determined person with a vision for the country; such determination and vision are not required by the President under 19A.
The President under 19A will be largely ceremonial, standing at attention during National Day celebrations and unfurling the National Flag.
The PM and Parliament will drive the country and the President, under 19A, should be a person who can work with the PM and Parliament unlike the current King who works strongly against the PM and Parliament being driven by his own petty ambitions and inferiority complexes.
Karu Jayasuriya, as Speaker, stood behind a cordon of protectors in Parliament when leading JO members including ex-Ministers, smashed chairs and threw books at the Speaker, instigated by the JO Leader, MR (who was in the Chamber at that time), and his backer, the King.
Karu Jayasuriya put his life at risk in safeguarding democracy and ensuring the continuation of the affairs of the Parliament.
Karu Jayasuriya is the greatest democrat of our times; he stood against JO violence in Parliament.
Dear UNP, please entrust the candidature to Karu Jayasuriya and ensure the oppressive Executive Presidency is abolished.
Sajith Preme has vowed to follow the footsteps of his late father who was a demon.
The Executive Presidency should be abolished.
Karu Jayasuriya is the only courageous leader who can do it.
The country suffered under the Executive Presidency of Ranasinghe Premadasa; he was a demon and corrupt to the core.
The country suffered under the Executive Presidency of Mahinda Rajapaksa; he was a dictator and corrupt to the core.
The country suffered under the Executive Presidency of Maithripala Sirisena; he was an idiot with no democratic values, driven by his ambitions and corrupt to the core.
A Rajapaksa brother is attempting to gain the seat; he is a terrorist with no care for the people and democracy and corrupt to the core.
It is time the country got rid of the Executive Presidency.
Hey Nigel,
Strong words but the truth.
After Ranasinghe Premadasa, we had DB Wijethunge and CBK.
The country was able to breathe.
The came the Rajapaksa Family followed by Maithripala.
The citizens of this country were raped by these 3 leaders, RP, MR and MS.
Typical Sri Lankan mentality. Forgot what you had for breakfast. If not for the Rajapakses all u big mouth Engineered and Butterfly fans would be wondering when and where the next LTTE bomd would go off. Funny how you forgot remember to rubbish the Rajapakses and forget Ranils shady deeds. As for Karu, He is a Seethala kotiya who does not know where his loyaltity is.
