The Government yesterday decided to reduce fuel and kerosene prices in the Jaffna Peninsula following the Cabinet meeting in Iranamadu, Kilinochchi.

The price of petrol which earlier stood at Rs 119 a litre is reduced to Rs 115.60.

Diesel price has come down from Rs 75.50 to Rs 73.60 and kerosene formerly sold at Rs 54.00 is down to Rs 51.60.

The price revision was effective from midnight yesterday.

The Cabinet decided to reduce prices giving consent to a Cabinet paper submitted by Minister Susil Premajayantha seeking a revision of fuel and kerosene prices in Jaffna peninsula.

Fuel and kerosene prices would now be on par with that in most other parts of the country. The prices in Jaffna were higher earlier mainly due to the higher transport cost. RS
