Gotabaya named SLPP’s Presidential Candidate

The former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been officially announced as the Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) by party leader Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Addressing the gathering Mahinda Rajapaksa said a leader who prioritises the country is essential for the country’s growth.

In Sri Lanka politics is a sexually transmitted disease. It all started with Bandaranayake and his family then Rajapaksa and his offsprings and to be followed by Premadasa and Sirisena. They all did one thing and only one thing. They paralyse the country. That JR is the biggest culprit. No where in the world has such a family orientated political system.

E.g. US Bush junior who started the illegal war in Iraq, his father Bush senior and his brother.
e.g. 2 US today- Daughter of Trump rides high as an advisory; so too does her Jewish husband Jared Kushner. Possible reason for pro-Israel stance.
e.g. 3 Ghandi family in India
e.g. 4. Bhutto family in Pakistan
e.g. 5. Trudeau in Canada, son of Trudeau Snr
That said, politics should be open to anyone, not just dynastic political families.
Historical evidence shows that those who come to power with lots af fanfare, kiribath and crackers, turn out to be the biggest disasters.
Pity they cannot think outside the box and nominate a ‘commoner’ who has a proven track record.
