New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has declined an invitation from Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapakse to watch the cricket World Cup semifinal between the two countries.
New Zealand play Sri Lanka in Colombo tomorrow for a place in the finals after beating South Africa by 49 runs on Friday.
A spokesman from Mr Key’s office said he had to decline the invitation, NZPA reports.

NZ PM to decline the invitation by Hon President could be due to various reasons. The diaspora LTTE and DC will ofcourse read a meaning to their advantage and gloat about it. Who cares! Our Hon President has extended this invitation as a matter of diplomatic courtesy but if NZPM declines it let him regret it. Perhaps he feared NZ team will be beaten as England team was beaten and sent home packing with their tail between their legs, as Strauss said.
Good lession for MR
