President Sirisena appointed UPFA Chairman

President Maithripala Sirisena was appointed as the Chairman of United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) at the Central Committee meeting held yesterday.

Janaka Bandara Tennakoon has been appointed as the National Organizer of UPFA.

The Central Committee of the UPFA unanimously decided to appoint President Sirisena as its leader at a meeting held last afternoon (14).

Former Minister Susil Premajayantha and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa will continue to work in their current positions.

President Sirisena was appointed as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, after former President Mahinda Rajapaksa agreed to handover the party’s leadership to his successor on 16 January.
