Sri Lanka prisons overcrowded as nearly 400 suspects remanded daily

The Department of Prisons in Sri Lanka says that nearly 400 suspects are remanded daily.

The department stated that prisons have facilities for around 30,000 people.

However, nearly 40,000 inmates are currently being held in prisons, according to the department.
