Two arrested trying to throw ICE, hashish and phones into Magazine Prison

Two men were arrested near Magazine Prison in Borella while allegedly attempting to throw two parcels containing ICE, hashish, mobile phones and other items into the prison.

The arrests were made on this afternoon (August 8, 2026), during a raid carried out by a team of officers from Borella Police near the side wall of Magazine Prison on Baseline Road.

Police said the two suspects, both aged 29, are residents of the Colombo 14 area.

When officers inspected the two parcels, they found 22 grams and 250 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine, known as ICE, 270 milligrams of hashish, 250 grams of tobacco, 10 lighters, two small mobile phones, two phone chargers and two pairs of earrings.

The suspects are due to be produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court on August 9, 2026.

Borella Police are conducting further investigations.
