22 university students remanded for protesting despite court order

22 university students including the convenor of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Ven. Rathkarawwe Jinarathana Thera, who were arrested for protesting outside the University Grants Commission (UGC), were remanded till tomorrow.
The order was issued by the Colombo Additional Magistrate when the group of students was produced before the court.
They were arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens Police this morning for violating a court order.

This is becoming a pathetic situation in the country.
Necessary rules/regulations should be implemented to prevent such protest by Uni students.
There are monks among those arrested.
I strongly disagree monks in normal Unis. Monk should get their education via Privena. If Piriven Uni doesn’t have any subjects that the monks needs to take up, those should be add-up.
Government should provide fullest support to the Piriven Unis to keep those in better shape and not enroll any monk in normal Uni’s.
