Former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today (August 5) over the alleged use of two Presidential Secretariat employees at his private office.
Kariyawasam was taken into custody after arriving at CIABOC this morning to provide a statement regarding the allegations.
He had been summoned over claims that, while serving as an adviser to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, he assigned two employees attached to the Presidential Secretariat to work at his private office.
